Correspondence, 1954.

Correspondence, Jan. 6, 1954, from Neugebauer, a U.S. Colonel in Korea to his former teacher, John Cumming in Detroit (Mich.), concerning a newspaper he received, remembrances of school days, and news of Korea. Included with the correspondence and envelope are a photograph of American soldiers, Neugebauer, and a Korean orphanage and its occupants at Christmas 1953, and three Korean bank notes (10 Hwan).

Cumming, born in Mass. in 1915, served as Director of the Clarke Historical Library at CMU, 1961-1982. He was an early member and president of the Michigan Archival Association. He earned degrees from Eastern Michigan University and attended Wayne State University and Michigan State University.
